What is the history of California Ponderosa Road, in the context of the Second World War? Was it a secret route by ACE?
Ponderosa Road connects Canada to Mexico. Supposedly a secret route developed by the Army Corps of Engineers during World War II to be used when roads are cut. I am looking for the story and the facts surrounding this way, some of which is opened and used, regardless of the dirt and gravel, some accessible by 4WD.
I am very doubtful about it. It has no intrinsic meaning and is not compatible with any evidence. I would suggest contacting a) the history, people CEHO@usace.army.mil ACE, b) the California Department of Transportation http://www.dot.ca.gov/writeus.htm c) Professor Bruce Seely is a historian bseely@mtu.edu distinguished road network United States. Good luck.

The War: A Ken Burns Film $15.95 The soundtrack for The War, documentarian Ken Burns’s 2007 PBS series on World War II, alternates between earlier, wartime, and postwar material, all designed to complement the narrative. The material was clearly selected to evoke the mood of the era: Benny Goodman’s sextet tears off a hot 1942 “Wang Wang Blues,” and Count Basie lets fly with “Basie Boogie” (1941) and the prewar “How Long Blues.”… |

The Smithsonian Institution museums may restrict photography, depending on the exhibit. Signage will be posted.
The U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum restricts photography all together: "Neither video nor audio recording is permitted. Photography is not permitted in the exhibitions. Flash photography is not permitted in the Hall of Remembrance. Cell phone use is not permitted in the exhibitions."
I do not know about Mt. Vernon or Colonial Williamsburg; check out their sites below.
