Make sure your password is in WPA format, not the WEP format. WEP passwords generally are 25 characters long, full of random numbers and letters. The Wii has been known to perform best by WEP password format, which is a password that you type in personally.
To change your format, you'll need to enter 192.168.1.1 (or .2.1) into your internet browser, and then modify your wireless routers' settings to use a different type of Encryption (WPA).
Google your router's name and model number if the above instruction doesn't succeed. The info I've given you is for the most common types of wireless routers.
