How far is Universal Studios Warner Bros. studios in Los Angeles?

I am planning a trip to Los Angeles in December, and my friends and I would like see the show tonight (Universal Studios) and The Ellen DeGeneres Show (Warner Bros. Studios). We are trying to find a hotel that is close to each place and also close enough to us to do some sightseeing and shopping. Any help? Is it easy access to downtown LA, too? Is it worth it to go downtown?

Warner is in Burbank, both are near Hollywood, Warner is easy to get on the bus, Universal is just a Hollywood stop the train, so they are reasonably central, if u stay in Hollywood, it would be easy to achieve both. I stayed at the Ramada West Hollywood hotel, was only once, five minutes on the board (bus) Hollywood Blvd at the interchange station for Universal and Warner. EDIT-yes its easy t get to the center, but it really is not much there, many museums, cultural centers, etc, business center, side prefer Hollywood, Beverly Center has excellent shopping, farmers markets. I did a tour with Starline was a great way to get my bearings with the city, and he went to Rodeo Drive and agricultural markets, in the center. I wouldnt recommend a visit to the homes of stars, bored.
