My daughter wants to know has anyone heard of the Tasmanian Tiger, which became extinct in 2001?

Humans have been shooting and kill them. They were like dogs with stripes. Does anyone have more information about them?

The last known Thylacine died in Hobart Zoo, September 7, 1936. Observations and research since 1936, no evidence was found of a thylacine. However, the incidence observations reported thylacine continued. Most of the observations occur at night, in the upstate, or near areas where suitable habitat remains available. Although the species is now considered as "probably extinct ', these results provide some hope that the thylacine may still exist. There have been hundreds of comments from 1936, many which may have been clear cases of error identification. However, a detailed study of the observations between 1934 and 1980, Steven Smith concluded that a total of 320 observations, nearly half could be considered a good point. However, all observations have yielded conclusive results. Interestingly, as many observations of the same quality are reported by the Australian continent – perhaps a commentary on the paucity of data representing observations alone.
