SingStar microphones not working for the PlayStation 2 version of Rock Band?
Please do not guess I need someone who has actually I tried.
I have not tried, but my friend, and she has an opinion different from SingStar. You have to buy the Rockband microphone.

Even as eyes turn towards the inevitable next Rock Band, Harmonix is still tweaking Rock Band 2. Over at PlayStation Blog, Rock Band 2 lead designer Dan Teasdale outlined a series of changes, tweaks and additions that are part of a Rock Band 2 patch for PlayStation 3 users. The patch arrives this Thursday. Most importantly, the patch introduces support for SingStar microphones, prepares Rock Band 2 to receive select songs created for Rock Band Network (only Xbox 360 owners will have access to all uploaded content for the time being) and the ability to sort by stars in Quick Play mode.
