the slim is good. color doesn't matter, but some of the earlier ps2's lasers will crap out on you. if you get a fat, get it from gamestop or some other brick and mortar store, as the lasers crap out quite often. however, if you get a slim, you're not supposed to play for more than 5 hours at a time, as they don't have a fan, only passive cooling. i, personally, have had my ps2 running a game for 48 hours straight.
