Is it better to do what you like for nothing or for something a little more painful for money and financial security?
More seriously, many people say that in this economy is important to have expertise or credentials. What if your passion is something that almost nothing is gained? I mean, the passion is important, but so is eating. What do you think? Do what you love doing the bare bones or do something that pays the bills, but fear you?
All the world has to determine what your life is in balance between work, play, family, health, and a challenge. The mixture can and do change when moving from one stage to life of life. So if you are single, healthy and focused, you can work at something you love and accept a lower salary. Once you have a family, your balance should change. One of my teachers used to say – there is no job security, there is the safety of skill. It is your responsibility to ensure you are updating.

I second definitely not using wood chisels unless you want to ruin them.
You definitely should have a tooth chisel, work will go much faster and easier to rough things in. You want a flat chisel for more details. A pointed chisel can also be useful. All those chisels come in different sizes, what sizes you need most obviously depends on the scale you are working. I think on limestone cold chisels might be OK, for harder stones you might want extra stone carving chisels (but those are much more expensive).
Obviously you will need a hammer of a weight you are comfortable with. For stone carving a rectangular hammer is usually used.
you will need some files/rasps and sandpaper of different grit for smoothing and polishing. For the higher grits you will want wet/dry sandpaper.
You definitely will want some safety glasses.
If you google basic stone working tools you probably should find a couple of lists and suggestions.
These days you need a whole lot more than just a virus protection. Only about 15% of all malware is viruses. The rest is worms, trojans, phishing schemes, spyware, etc.

For your anti-virus needs, I would suggest Avast. It has excellent heuristics, a virus detection rate that is better than many of "paid-for" anti-virus programs and is light on using your computer's resources.

Here is a little online (no download) security tool called The Secunia Software Inspector, that checks a computer for un-secure, un-updated and un-patched apps that may be installed on your computer.
The Secunia Software Inspector checks for possibly vulnerable programs like Adobe, Winamp, Java, Windows, Internet Explorer etc. and notifies if critical security updates are needed. !
