The Dell 17-inch (manufactured in Malaysia under the model Likom L705XXX, Product ID: L7055LP) came with no power symptom. Typically, after housing is open, I saw the power (primary side) for all burned and cracked components first. If darkened area and burned components, I say that this monitor requires a little more time to repair. If no (component intact) I started Usually, the discharge of filter capacitor and start checking the fuse.

Well, confirms that all components of the primary side looks good on this monitor.

First, the discharge of filter capacitor with high resistance (I know tension and evacuated, but it is a normal procedure for me, because what happens if the resistance implementation of an open circuit?), then check fuse.

If the fuse is correct, the experience will tell you that the bridge diodes are also working well. Place the black probe of your meter set to analog to the center pin x1 (drain) of the power transistor and a red probe to pin the other at a time (gate and source). If the pointer meters and then shoot 80% of the power FET is correct. If you want a 100% confirm if it is good, then you must be welded and tested. If the needle indicates a reading is more than likely the FET Power has developed a short circuit. The result me this monitor is the pointer does not move.

Now is the time I can use the Dick Smith tester Flyback to check the SMPS primary winding. The result I got was, the bar of LED lights. It ha! It is an index and the idea tells you that either the primary winding short SMPS circuit or a diode side yielded. Of course, you can check all the diodes from high school with its first normal multimeter (remember, all repair Electronic methods have their own rules of procedure for the solution of problems), but I prefer the way I also want to confirm if the SMPS primary winding works or not.

SMPS transformer is usually very strong and therefore do not suspect that pull flyback tester reading. Immediately check all my meter secondary diodes analog and found a shorted diode (part number U202G). Since I have no problem, I use a diode UF5404 ultra fast recovery replacement. In fact, I use this for UF5404 14-17 "monitor in lieu of any part number for the secondary diode. The specifications for this diode is 400volt, 3-50 amps nanoseconds.

After replacing the diode, and place the tester probes return time again for the primary winding, the result shows a complete bar on the LED. Not satisfied with the result, but because their work has not been done.

However, I went to see hot the same procedure as the control of power FET. HOT also be good to check. Then I can check the flyback transformer internal capacity to see what is shorted or not, or is the long-term value of capacity. For your information, the internal capacitor in the flyback transformer has a lot of problems in the computer monitor. Also scanned by the B + FET and find good too.

Now is the time for the screen, but this tour, I do not connect a LED bulb for only a short circuit in the secondary. I want to connect a single focus after repair when it is important to short-circuit on the primary side as a bridge rectifier FET short and blown SMPS primary winding and its components also burned on the board of directors.
