Ten tips for creating your own Media Center PC
With the new faster processors, larger hard drives and most new TVs building a Media Center PC LCD is becoming more and more practical. A Media Center PC can record television shows multiple time, you can organize all your music and photos can also be used as a normal computer. They are definitely very cool. But before deciding to build your own media center Here are ten tips …
1. Consider building a machine with a dual core or quad core. The multiple processing threads will be very useful to record several programs and watch a while. A fast CPU Multi Core is a must if you watch and record high definition TV.
2. Do not skimp on RAM. A good media center will have at least 2 GB of RAM and probably should be up to 4GB. The ram will help keep things moving quickly while recording programs.
3. You can never have enough hard disk space. With more and more HDTV on a standard that you think you have large amounts of hard drive space on your machine. I do not build a machine that is less than a terabyte of hard disk space.
4. To increase performance consider using a RAID configuration for your drives. The use of high-speed RAID SATA hard drives zero can help to improve video performance and can prevent errors registration.
5. Get good TV tuner cards with built-in encryption equipment. tuner cards with hardware MPEG encoding load processor when recording TV programs, this will ensure you will receive no skipping or problems in your recorded output. I can use Hauppauge cards in my machine and work hard.
6. Investing in a correct decoding program. The software decoding software offering Nvidia has done a good job on my media center. However, I tested four or five different before finding one that works the way I wanted with my hardware. Be prepared to try different options before deciding one that best for you.
7. Do not forget to order the remote control. A media center without a remote control is a farce. These devices are designed to work while you sit on your couch. Remotes do not cost much more than the Grand and work.
8. Buy the best video card you can afford. The better the video card that is least likely to have problems with reading. Before you buy your video card so be sure to review the list of approved Media Center cards. If the card is not there, you can avoid. Security Also, you buy a video card with high definition output that matches with the TV (either DVI or HDMI are the best).
9. Getting a good sound card that can feed the audio source to your receiver or speakers. If you plan to release 5.1 or 7.1 data from a DVD you'll want to make sure the sound card you choose has a coaxial or optical digital output. You might also consider buying a card lets you convert all the sounds used in the computer as a flow of 5.1 or 7.1 digital audio.
10. Be ready to play with your settings and build. Unfortunately, building a media center is not an exact science and there is usually some more changes necessary to obtain stable system fully functional. If you do not feel comfortable playing with the settings and drivers to make things work, you might consider buying an average center particular and another person taking the test and configuration for you.
I Run Windows XP Media Center Edition for a while now and I love it. I built two centers of different media and both were high. Try it yourself and see.
