Say you're thinking of buying a new toaster oven. LCD What color do you prefer? Blue or green?
I mean, if you must choose something (a toaster oven, stereo, whatever) with a blue or green LCD display LCD do you prefer? Why do you like that color?
I would go with a blue LCD display, and try to make it as high contrast, or black as a screen as possible. This makes it easier to read, and if people know who are blind color, will be easier for them to read red and green are the hardest colors to distinguish the color blind. Good luck!

I hate to say it, but it sounds like it's time for a new monitor.
There is a chance that it is something simple like the VGA cable that you use to connect it to the PC being bad, but for being that old, It is not unlikely that the monitor is just dying.
