A rotary valve engine describes the induction of a two-stroke engine. Most rotary valve engines are the Rotax engine. Although other rotary engines have been made, such as Suzuki and Kawasaki engines. Rotax engines used in snowmobiles, personal watercraft, motorcycles and aircraft engines. A rotary valve refers to the provision of a two-stroke engine. There are three types of models for admission to two-stroke engines.
Simplistic two strokes are piston port, which means that the piston movement past the port controls the timing of the incoming air. The engine piston port is not a very good job of keeping the air flow to remain engine. The air can only travel back to the motor. Admission is the most popular airlines cane port engine. Use reed petals to allow the admission air in the engine and there are pitfalls. The tension of the petals Reed may change with the use of different petals and can provide some improvement in power certain rpm ranges.
A rotary valve engine has the best control of the intake air. The rotary valve rotates mechanically in a circular motion. This movement allows the intake port that opens and closes in the best possible time. The rotary valve also allows the port have any restriction as to the cause reeds. The torque of the plate can change the shape of the valve and is found in some racing engines.
Most valve engines have two rotating cylinders that are driven from a gear on the crankshaft between the cylinders. Some became three cylinders with rotary valves, but are too complex for the engines. rotary engines are a very good valve design with a total control of airflow in an engine. They also keep the air circulating the air without any restrictions.

The backfire is either an improper ignition timing or else you've flooded it, and once all that excess gas ignites it causes a major explosion. That's the backfire. You need to check the air intake to see if there's a blockage. It may be that you have a choke of some kind stuck in the on position or have something stuck in the air intake or the air filter is dirty or wet and not allowing enough air to get to the engine.
Another possible problem could be back to the ignition timing. When you changed the spark plugs did you change them one at a time and replace the wire on the cylinder, or did you take off all the wires, change the plugs and then replace all the wires. If you did the latter you may have switched the wires to the plugs so that the firing sequence is no longer in the proper order. That can also cause backfires by providing the ignition spark to the cylinder at the wrong time.
Good luck, but be careful. Too many bad backfires can blow off the cylinder head or at least damage the head gasket.
