Verdi: Macbeth (The Metropolitan Opera HD Live Series) $17.04 Verdi’s admiration for Shakespeare led to such masterpieces as Othello and Falstaff, and if the earlier Macbeth isn’t on their exalted level it’s still a powerfully dramatic opera that hews closely to the original’s story line. The MET’s production retains the dark aura of the opera while updating it to a vaguely post-modern context. So the witches are bag ladies in v… |

Eagles: Farewell 1 Tour – Live From Melbourne [HD DVD] $21.44 Thirty songs, spread out over two discs and well over two and a half hours, with fine performances, great sound, and good visual direction: it’s all here on Farewell 1 Tour, a documentary of the Eagles’ 2004 concert in Melbourne, Australia. At one point, the veteran band seemed unlikely to even make it to the new millennium, but here they are, mostly intact, with a string of hits dating back more … |

The Matrix [HD DVD] By following up their debut thriller Bound with the 1999 box-office smash The Matrix, the codirecting Wachowski brothers–Andy and Larry–annihilated any suggestion of a sophomore jinx, crafting one of the most exhilarating sci-fi/action movies of the 1990s. Set in the not too distant future in an insipid, characterless city, we find a young man named Neo (Keanu Reeves). A software techie by day a… |

Contender (D-VHS) $5.00 Depending on your perspective, The Contender can be praised and damned for the same reasons. A political thriller with an insider’s view, it’s deadly earnest in its defense of truth, justice, and the American way, but writer-director (and former film critic) Rod Lurie resorts to the same manipulation that his film purports to condemn. But with political savvy, a timely idea (a female vice presiden… |

Cheap LCD HDTV: Haier#Haier HLC22XSL2 Black 22-Inch Ultra Slim 1080p LED LCD HDTV DVD Combo HLC22XSL2
Amazing!
This is not a full hd tv, so no it won't do 1080p. But it will happily do 1080i, so no great loss.
As for calibrating the TV, there is no real way to quickly answer that, as all TVs are different. Even 2 TVs coming off the production line next to each other will likley require slightly different settings to each other.
But if you are genuinely interested in getting it looking as good as possible you can purchase a calibration DVD such as Digital Video Essentials (DVE) which will instruct you with test patterns etc. If you don't want to spend any money, email me, and I can give you a few pointers (too much to write as an answer to a question).
I got one this past week, my first large flat screen, it has speakers, VGA, and HDMI/Component, for HDTV, 1080Progressive is capable. It is 32 inch, however.
cool, i want one.
