Hard Drives-Choosing the Right

Hard drives come in different sizes and configurations. How much data a hard disk can hold is measured in gigabytes (GB). The latest hard drives can hold from 80 GB to 1000 GB (1TB)! When you buy a hard disk size is not the only factor to watch, however. By choosing the hard right hand drive for your needs, Enjoy your computer more. Hard drives are cheap and should not skimp on that to save money.

For business or consumer goods, a 80 GB hard drive GB should be sufficient. If you download music, movies, or install many games on your computer, your computer will be have at least 160 Go For laptop users, the space requirements are the same, however, many laptops come with small hard drives. Many users choose to remain small portable hard drive and buy an external hard disk for files larger than reduce costs.

You can have a huge hard disk, but will be useless if it does not move fast enough to the data on your computer! To search for data, hard drives have a roll in rotating shafts, such as a CD. What so quickly becomes a hard disk is measured in RPM (revolutions per minute). The increased speed of a hard drive is, the faster it will perform. Desktop units almost always 7200 rpm. Portable hard drives can range from 4200-5400 rpm rpm for the budget and using media and 7200 rpm for high end use. Hard drives 10,000 RPM or more are available, but are especially players, experts in computers and servers.

If you are a computer user looking for performance, you should know about RAID. RAID allows you to put two or more hard drives of the same make and model and run them all at once, resulting in faster performance. Also RAID can be used if the data on secondary hard drive to automatically back up a drive, you always have a backup of data. There are many possible configurations RAID there, too numerous to mention in this article.

cache for a disk drive is also another important indicator of performance. cache a hard drive to store frequently used data for faster access by the computer. A good hard drive at least 8 MB of cache. Since RPM, the higher the a hard disk cache, the better.

Hard disks typically have either a SATA or IDE connection. The two connections are to set the unit to the motherboard via a cable so that data can be sent and received and the computer and the unit. SATA is the latest connection and is better than IDE, since it can be faster and uses a large much smaller cable. FDI, however, is as fast as the real world of testa FDI performance and IDE disks that use less expensive that SATA disks. But IDE drives use large cables can restrict airflow. Fortunately, you can buy a round IDE cable is not so great for $ 5 – $ 10 in almost any store that supplies the computer or online retailer as part of team and Newegg.com Fry Electronics.

With current wifi standards this is impossible for many reasons. Heres your hurdles.

Bandwidth, wifi bandwidth is fast even for audio but for 30 plus students accessing possible 30 different audio streams would take a wired network with gigabit ethernet unless you cheap out on the audio quality of the files your using and without a interface there is no way to make selection. In big scenarios like this companies sometimes install a single copy of a server version of windows and set all of the attached machines to server boot so that each can access the same data and you can save money by buying computers with no optical/disk drives.

you can take it to a computer shop and have them try to recover information that is why you need to back up your files weekly to disk or flash drive
it should run $ 300 to $1000 depending on what they can save

This is enterprise class drive. That’s to be expected.

  8. burk vray says:

The number of hours the DVR can record in SD is also the size of the hard drive in GB. So, a DVR that can hold 150 hours of SD recordings means it has 150 GB hard drive.

If your DVR has a USB port, you can enable a feature that lets you plug in an external hard drive for extra storage. You have to call Dish Network for this and pay a one time fee of $35 (boo).

The "live TV" buffer does not use up your hard drive space. So if your DVR says it has 150 hours left, that's 150 hours of SD recordings – not counting the live buffer. The buffer only holds 30 minutes of TV at most, unless you or the DVR change the channel which will empty the buffer entirely.

Keep in mind, that recording in HD will take up 6 times as much space as non-HD. So while I have a "200 hour HD-DVR" in reality this means it can hold some combination of 200 hours of SD programming, or just over 33 hours in HD.
