Insert Windows CD, and carry on with a normal installation.
When you get to the screen asking you to install a fresh copy of windows, press enter.
On the mext screen Windows will list the partitions.
It's safe to delte both partitions and then create 1 new partition.
Press enter to reinstall Windows Xp.

We bought a buffer awhile back because we had a bunch of scratched dvd's from the kids'. We paid quite a bit for it and it was a big waste of money because it didn't work. I know some movie rental places will do it for $5 but that doesn't guarantee it will work.
