C/C++ is the best for performance and you have *many* sdks to get you started.

Java is good in the sense that it should take you less code to write a game engine but there are less third party libraries for Java so you could end up having to write more code anyway.

Most companies use C/C++ along with a scripting language like python or lua for high level coding. Ogre3D and Delta3D are written in C++ and have python bindings.

    Natto (fermented soy beans)
white rice balls with dried fish and seaweed seasoning, sometimes they have pickled seaweed inside or fish (salmon, etc..)inside ( you can make these at home or buy them at the local convenience store, 7-11)
miso soup (made from miso paste) with tofu in it
they don't drink much water, but no soda, always drinking oolong (Chinese) tea or green tea which both have caffeine (sold in plastic bottles everywhere and unsweetened)
In the summer they drink mugicha (barley tea)
lots of seaweed salads (packaged as fast food at the local convenient stores)
    dried konbu (seaweed)
also at the convenient store a prepackaged bento including steamed vegetables such as burdock root and carrots and fish such as mackeral or grilled salmon
    lots of kelp
seasonal fruit (tangerines, persimmons, etc..) but only as a dessert
    lots of cooked veggies
after a night out drinking many will eat octopus (takoyaki)in a grilled dumpling and baked sweet potatoes (yaki imo) , which we would call yams, both sold by street venders

bar snacks usually included fried tofu, grilled eggplant and always lots of edamame (green soybeans boiled in the pod)

The thinnest 20 something in Japan, whom I stayed with for a few weeks ate this everyday:
breakfast 2 rice balls with nori seaweed rice cooker preset the night before
    one class of oolong tea
    10 am green tea
lunch a huge Fujiya apple and a big block of tofu (the firm kind), water
dinner rice balls, miso soup, green tea that's it!

    buckwheat noodles (soba)
ramen with eggs and veggies and pork in it
Most people ate breakfast and no one ever ever skips lunch! Portion sizes are much smaller especially the drinks, think smaller than small size at your local American fast food restaurant.
You may not like my answers, but these are the facts.
I worked in many many high schools and junior highs with young thin 20 something women
I've eaten, partied and travelled with them as well. About the Japanese guy above, they want him to think that is what they eat, but those cake shops, are mostly for middle aged women with money to burn & that's more of an image statement.

C++ is a bad language to start with. It is low-level, quite cryptic, difficult to debug, and makes it very easy to shoot yourself in the foot.

Java is more forgiving than C++. However, it is still a compiled language and it also enforces a strict object-oriented paradigm (which C++ does not) which might be hard to understand at first.

I think it really depends what kind of learning curve you want and what you want to be doing with programming in the future. If you're okay with spending a few years on the learning curve, you might want to start with something like Javascript. Javascript requires that you know a bit of HTML and CSS to use, and it is slow, but it is incredibly forgiving and easy to use and debug and it doesn't require a compiler (it gets interpreted dynamically by a web browser). It also shares a C-like syntax which is good. Some people recommend starting with Python or Visual Basic, but I don't think that's a good idea myself because their syntax is not C-like and so in order to move on to Java or C++ you would need to relearn the syntax. On the other hand, if you really want to dive into the deep end you can go straight for Java or C++, but be careful you aren't overestimating your own ability and patience.
