Grand Magus – Robert-Houdin

Robert-Houdin, who was born in Blois is often credited as the "father of modern magic." Before him, magicians in the markets and fairs, but Robert-Houdin performed magic at theaters and private parties. He wore formal clothes, like his public. Today, many magicians imitate using layers of glue, if magicians consider this as outdated and prefer contemporary clothes. The stage name Harry Houdini has been taken in its honor, much later, Houdini denounced Robert-Houdin. He is widely regarded as the pioneer in performance art of the modern illusion.

Robert-Houdin was a watchmaker, and he has made mechanical toys and machines. From a very young man, who was interested in a jiffy and juggling, and in 1845 began to exhibit his skills, is fast becoming famous for its towers.

The Arabs of Algeria said they were very pleased with the revolt against the French colonialists by false miracles performed by their religious leaders. In 1856, Napoleon led the French government sent Robert-Houdin third, hoping that he could perform tricks that have been much more impressive, which dissolves the excitement of the rebels. It is said that the towers of Robert Houdin, was successful in breaking the influence of priests. Moreover, the Arabs were afraid to Robert Houdin.

For a visit, he asked an Arab to shoot a ball marked, but instead of killing him, the ball has been beaten in his teeth. After that, Robert-Houdin believes could do nothing. Robert-Houdin was not the first illusionist to perform the bullet catch and many have adapted their own version of the effect.

Another famous trick he used to prove that French magic was stronger than local shamanism techniques: he presented an empty box with an iron core that can be lift. By activating an electromagnet hidden under the floor, he was real, "prove" the will to power, which could make it impossible to lift for warriors Algeria's strong. He later said it could be the strong man too weak to lift a trunk that can be raised by a small child.

He openly admitted his tricks were "lies" to authorities to avoid witchcraft prosecutions. Obviously, he has lived the magic, the stage, even vacation and constantly evoke new ideas. His wife was often involved in their towers extremely intelligent and innovative. home of Robert-Houdin in Blois is open to public as a theater and a museum called the Magic House, facing the castle of Blois.

I guess coloured contacts are a matter of personal choice. I have dark hazel eyes that have a tendency to change from green, golden brown to dark brown.

I have never worn contacts, but if I were to, I would wear green.
If I had very dark eyes, I would not wear coloured contacts. Dark eyes are gorgeous.

  7. othembresc overman says:

I myself have hopes and dreams….without these then what are you living for?
