How can I see a BluRay / DVD if you are in 5.1? Is there any way to solve this problem?
Each film comes with only a surround sound option. its annoying …. so does anyone know a way to get BluRay and DVDs to play on a normal ….. 2.0 expect everyone to have a system surround sound these days
DVDs have two components. The video, the part you see, and audio, the listener. 5.1 is a standard coding does not affect the sound and video quality. If you just plug the audio output to the audio input of your TV or stereo, you hear the movie very well in stereo. It will not be in surround mode, but will not affect video quality. You may want to consider investing in 5.1 surround sound system, not only for DVD, but most TV shows now have surround sound. If you see sports surround sound really enhances the experience.

It is only my personal opinion but I think standard DVD's will be around for a long time. The Blu Ray are very expensive and the benefit is small,
I intend to continue using standard DVD's and my friends pretty well feel the same way.
