American Idol: More than a singing contest

American Idol is perhaps the biggest singing competition in America these days, and it's really not difficult see why. Broadcast by Fox Network in the United States, are distributed internationally in over 100 countries outside the U.S. such as Canada, Mexico, Philippines, Pakistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, UAE and India. And with scores ranging from 9.9 million viewers during the first season to 37.7 million in its sixth season, the singing contest, which has also been named one question reality TV is without doubt one of the most phenomenal programs to be broadcast on television.

In fact, American Idol come to be regarded by many as a television executive authority, a force to be taken into account, so that even rival networks television have come to reorganize its timetable on American Idol, to reduce their losses. Fox American Idol even used accordingly to publicize and promote its other programs during the broadcast. Needless to say, American Idol is an important point of advertising for some of the biggest companies and products to the United States.

American Idol was created by British mogul Simon Fuller in 2002 to make the main aim of the exhibition is to find the best singer in the United States through a series of singing competitions. Candidates are filtered from hundreds of aspiring American Idol future in the United States. During the first session, candidates are selected and selected by four judges, the pop singer producer Randy Jackson, winner of a Grammy, Emmy-winning choreographer and dancer Paula Abdul, music director and mogul Simon Cowell. Recently added, the multi-Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter Kara DioGuardi.

The judges decided the top 24 contestants then compete in a series of weekly competitions, each with a different theme. Examples of topics that have been used include disco, big band, Motown, Billboard hits, and even featured singing artists like Dolly Parton, Elton John, Billy Joel, The Beatles, Queen, Barry Manilow, Elvis Presley, Stevie Wonder, Neil Diamond, The Bee Gees, Mariah Carey, Gloria Estefan, Rod Stewart, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Neil Sadaka. It was during this last phase of the issue when the public vote is used to decide the top 12, finally narrowing it down to top 2 vote for a candidate a week.

American Idol is hosted by Ryan Seacrest, who used to host the Games for children. In the first season, he co-hosts the show with comedian Brian Dunkleman.

First released without fanfare as a summer stand-TV in 2002, American Idol has developed and grown from a large fan base throughout its eighth season this year. Needless to say, the show has produced award-winning and popular singing artists, starting with the winners first seven seasons, that is, Kelly Clarkson, Fantasia Barrino, Ruben Studdard, Taylor Hicks, Jordin Sparks, Carrie Underwood and David Cook. It should also be second account in the first seven seasons, which are Justin Guarini, Blake Lewis, Clay Aiken, Diana DeGarmo, Katharine McPhee, Bo Bice, and David Archuleta.
